I found this video quite inspiring and I think it puts into perspective the responsibilities we have as professional coaches and leaders in developed markets to make an impact on the world.
In fact so much so, I've now introduced a new policy in my business inspired by a conversation I had with Stephen Dargan, a personal coach based in Carlow at an event I attended last night where I was speaking.
I often gift my time to company's who are not my ideal clients but who could benefit from my input as part of their brand stategy or talent strategy. I give my time freely especially where I see the executives valuing the input and then taking action to grow their business or address issues that they have been challenged with for some time.
Last night I volunteered some time to a company that Stephen is involved with. His immediate response when I mentioned that I was happy to gift my time was that in recognition of my gifting my time, they too as a management team would gift an equivalent amount of time and "pay it forward".
The potential of this is idea is huge in terms of making an impact in the world.
So with immediate effect, a requirement of receiving free consulting or coaching from my business and a request I will be making of event organisers who invite me to speak for free rather than a fee is that if they benefit from my input that they will consider "paying it forward".
In fact I already included this idea in the podcast recording that I did today where I'm also encouraging people who get value from our podcasts here at Talking Coaching , the new Biz Growth podcast series we are launching and the Biz Growth Live Teleseminars to also pay it forward.
Thank you Stephen for being a catalyst for this idea - through which the gifting of time by me and my team will have a far greater impact on the world.
