As you are building your coaching practice and are looking to attract more new clients, using on-line press releases is a great way to both build awareness of your business and to help you get found by the search engines.
Yesterday I joined a web conference that David Meerman Scott conducted for an HR community about "The New Rules of Marketing and PR" (also the title of his new book).
David shared some great content and also a number of case studies.
What I thought was particularly intriguing was the fact that over the course of 2 months, he had distributed no less than 20 press releases about his recent book launch and in fact on-line PR and connecting business bloggers had been the key foundations of his marketing strategy for his new book which has been a best seller since it was launched.
I know many coaches wonder how they can write even one press release for their business, but it is easier than you think, for example:
- are you establishing a new joint venture or collaboration
- do you have a new programme starting up
- is there an event you are attending as a guest speaker
- have you some interesting research to report on.
With around 90% of people reading press releases being people other than the media - in other words this may include potential clients - and with many of the on-line services being free, on-line PR is a strategy you can not afford to leave out of your marketing mix to attract more clients to your coaching practice.
And as David reminded the attendees at yesterdays conference, with Google News re-cycling it's headlines every 28 days, it is important to make sure that you are submitting a press release on-line at least once a month.
PS - more on David Meerman Scott soon - I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of his new book "The New Rules of Marketing and PR" - it arrived in the post earlier this week so I'll be reading it and posting my reflections in the next week or so.
